Hawkesbury Electorate Office Goes Mobile

11 Apr 2016

Member for Hawkesbury Dominic Perrottet MP has launched a new smartphone app called “My Community Connect” to take his electorate office mobile.

The app provides constituents with a new way to engage with the Hawkesbury MP, access important government services and find out more about community groups and local events.

“Meeting Hawkesbury locals and hearing their concerns face to face is so important in enabling me to understand the concerns of the community,” Mr Perrottet said.

“Unfortunately these days many constituents just don’t have the time to organise a meeting with their local MP,” he said.

“At a time when more than 90% of Australians have smartphones, I’m hoping this app will give Hawkesbury locals another convenient way to connect with me and my office directly.”

Hawkesbury constituents can access a range of government services through the app, including finding a Justice of the Peace, requesting congratulatory notices, applying for grants or making applications for other services through Service NSW.

While the app allows users to access many existing services, Mr Perrottet said he was most excited about the new opportunities for more direct interaction.

“This is about taking community engagement to the next level,” said Mr Perrottet. “Using the app, Hawkesbury residents can put their questions to me directly through a live-style Q&A, book me for events and request meetings,” he said.

“I’m also a keen runner, so if you’d like to book in and join me for a run you can also do that.”

App users can also call or email the electorate office and live chat with staff during business hours, as well as vote in community polls, view local employment opportunities and nominate a “Hawkesbury Hero” – someone who has gone above and beyond in community service.  Links to news articles, press releases, speeches and parliamentary activity are also provided.

The solution was developed by Crescent Info Soft Pty Ltd, a Sydney based enterprise software company, using LoYakk, a globally recognised, award-winning mobile platform.

The app is available on both Apple and Android platforms.
