Member for Hawkesbury Dominic Perrottet today invited the community to have a say on a proposal to install a permanent electronic message sign on March Street westbound in Richmond.
Mr Perrottet said the NSW Government is funding the proposed installation of the sign as part of its $246 million Pinch Point and Clearways Program, which aims to reduce traffic delays, manage congestion and improve travel times on Sydney’s major roads.
“The proposed sign would provide real time information to allow motorists to make improved decisions on their journeys,” Mr Perrottet said.
“At this location, the sign would provide information for westbound traffic along March Street, through North Richmond and along Bells Line of Road towards Lithgow and beyond, during planned and unplanned weather and traffic incidents which cause delays or road closures,” Mr Perrottet said.
“Roads and Maritime Services is carrying out investigation work to inform a design for the proposal.
“Work includes investigating ground conditions at the proposed site and locating underground utilities.”
This work will take two shifts from 8am to 5pm between Monday 13 March and Monday 3 April, weather permitting and excluding weekends.
Several car parking spaces at Richmond Park near March Street will be unavailable during the work.
Changed traffic conditions including lane closures will be in place for the safety of workers and motorists. Motorists are advised to plan ahead and follow the direction of traffic control and signs.
