Blaxland Road clearways proposed to ease congestion

10 Feb 2020

Motorists may soon be able to enjoy a smoother journey along Blaxland Road with extended clearways proposed along a busy section of road between Ryde and Epping.

Member for Epping Dominic Perrottet said the proposal would improve traffic flow and reduce delays for more than 25,000 vehicles which travel between Devlin Street and Epping Road each day.

“This key corridor provides access to Epping Station, Lane Cove Road, First Avenue and Balaclava Road as well as access to a number of businesses, health and education services,” Mr Perrottet said.

“Implementing clearways along this five kilometre stretch of Blaxland Road would ensure all lanes are available to traffic during peak times.”

“Extended clearways would operate in both directions from 6am to 10am and from 3pm to 7pm on weekdays.”

Mr Perrottet said Transport for NSW is also carrying out investigation work to improve the intersection of Blaxland Road and Victoria Road at Ryde.

“This work will help the NSW Government improve the reliability and efficiency of bus services, while easing congestion for all road users,” Mr Perrottet said.

“Work will be carried out until Friday 14 February between 8pm and 5am to identify the location of underground utilities.”

The extended clearways are proposed as part of the NSW Government’s $121 million Clearways Program, which aims to reduce congestion and delays on Sydney’s roads.

Transport for NSW has investigated business parking along Blaxland Road and identified there is sufficient parking available if the project goes ahead.

Comments on the proposed extended clearways can be provided by Friday 21

February by emailing clearways@rms.nsw.gov.au or calling the project team on 1300 706 232.
