Nominate a senior in Hawkesbury for a 2017 Local Achievement Award

17 Feb 2017

Member for Hawkesbury Dominic Perrottet today called for nominations for the 2017 NSW Seniors Local Achievement Awards.

“Seniors help make our local Hawkesbury community stronger and better,” Mr Perrottet said.

“The NSW Seniors Local Achievement Awards are an opportunity to thank a senior for everything they do in the community.

“We are calling on people to nominate seniors who are making a real difference to the lives of those around them.”

Minister for Ageing Tanya Davies said seniors are valued and respected members of our community.

“Whether it is volunteering for a charity, lending a helping hand to a local sporting club or caring for a loved one, older Australians do so much to make our families and communities stronger,” Mrs Davies said.

The 2017 NSW Seniors Local Achievement Awards will celebrate seniors’ achievements in a range of categories, including business, environment, science, agriculture, health and wellbeing, learning and community service.

Nominations for the 2017 NSW Seniors Hawkesbury Local Achievement Award are open from Monday 20th February – Wednesday 1st March 2017. They will be presented as part of NSW Seniors Festival, held 3 – 12 March.

NSW Seniors Festival celebrates and acknowledges the important role that seniors play in our community.

It is the largest festival for seniors in the Southern Hemisphere. An estimated 300,000 seniors are expected to attend more than 1,000 free and discounted events throughout the state during the festival.

The activities support the objectives of the NSW Ageing Strategy, which was launched to support the health and wellbeing of seniors.

Nomination forms can be sent to you by contacting the Hawkesbury Electorate Office on (02) 4578 0300 or emailing hawkesbury@parliament.nsw.gov.au
