Member for Hawkesbury Dominic Perrottet MP attended the opening of the Cancer Council Hawkesbury Relay for Life 2016 on Saturday 14 May held at Hawkesbury Showground.
“It was a pleasure to join members of the community to recognise our survivors and carers and celebrate the memory of loved ones lost to cancer.” Mr Perrottet said.
Relay for Life began in Australia in 1999 and has become the largest fundraising event for cancer around the world. Relays are now held in every Australian State and Territory, with more than 134,000 participants raising over $24 million each year.
“Every dollar raised goes towards funding Cancer Council’s vital research, prevention and support programs, many of which help people in Hawkesbury every day.” Mr Perrottet said.
“Thank you to the Hawkesbury Relay For Life Volunteer Organising Committee and Cancer Council NSW for organising another great community event.” Mr Perrottet said.
